Score: 2-1.

Juventus aim to maintain their unbeaten run in Serie A before the league breaks for winter as Sampdoria visit Turin.

There’s been little stopping Juventus in the first half of the Serie A season and an eight-consecutive Scudetto looks almost certain at the half-way point. It’s going to take an almighty collapse for Max Allegri’s side to slip from here, nine points clear before New Year.

A Boxing Day draw with Atalanta was a surprise but the Old Lady were reduced to 10 men before the hour mark and still had enough to take a point thanks to the intervention of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Atalanta’s two goals were the first conceded by Juve in the league since a 3-1 win over Cagliari back in early November but Samp, who have scored only five fewer than the champions despite their attack being assembled for a fraction of the cost, will feel they can breach the home defence.

Marco Giampaolo’s side have Champions League aspirations for next season and are only two points off fourth-place Lazio, but there is a greater gap to Inter in third – seven points.

The Genoa side are though one of Serie A’s form teams, having gone unbeaten since a heavy defeat to Roma in mid-November. They lost that one 4-1 but have recorded five wins and two draws in the seven games that followed, including three wins in their last three.

Samp will give Juve everything that have but it might not be enough to deal the hosts’ first defeat. A draw – 1-1 – isn’t out of the question though, and that scoreline should provide good odds for online betting sites.

Betting Tips

Juventus’ fire power is well-documented but Samp have gone a little under the radar and yet, their record of 31 goals in 18 league games is only bettered by Juve, Napoli and Atalanta.

Fabio Quagliarella turns 36 at the end of January but he’s no less dangerous than he was a decade ago. Indeed, he’s scored more Serie A goals than any player bar Ronaldo and Genoa’s Krzystof Piatek with 11.

Head to Head

Samp’s most recent win over Juve is surprisingly recent considering Juve’s domestic domination. They took a 3-2 win back in November 2017, but did lose 3-0 at Juve in April 2018.

Overall, Juve have won 21 of the 38 meetings between the two clubs, with Samp victorious only seven times. There have also been 10 draws between the teams, the last back in 2014, a 1-1 tie in Turin.

  • Samp have conceded more than twice the Serie A goals of Juventus – 21 to 10.
  • Quagliarella played for Juve between 2010 and 2014, making 102 appearances and scoring 30 goals.
  • Ronaldo and Quagliarella are tied for assists with five each – only Milan’s Spanish midfielder Suso has more, with eight.
  • Among the big name players to have turned out for both Juve and Samp are Roberto Baggio, Gianluca Vialli and Atillio Lombardo.
