Juventus vs Empoli Serie A Predictions

Serie A Juventus vs Empoli
Juventus vs Empoli Serie A

Saturday March 30th, 17:00

With Juventus’ focus being solely on the Champions League now, this game should be a walk in the park for the Old Lady but with Empoli desperate for points as they look to avoid relegation, could this be the biggest shock in European football this weekend?

On paper, this shouldn’t be a contest as the all-conquering Juventus will look to extend their lead at the top of Serie A but with changes set to be made by Max Allegri, Empoli could come into this game with hopes of a draw.

Juventus lost their first game of the Serie A campaign away at Genoa and will look to immediately rectify this by putting Empoli to the sword even with a whole set of changes to their line up expected with the Champions League in mind.

Empoli have won just twice in their last 13 games – against Frosinone and Sassuolo – and have picked up just three more points throughout this run (excluding the two wins).

Juve have only drawn twice at home this season – against Parma and Genoa – and just once away from home (against Atalanta) so the chances of Empoli getting anything from this are rather slim.

The visitors have the chance to win back to back games for the first time since the middle of November (they beat Udinese and Atalanta either side of an international break), despite how unlikely it may seem.

The home side are heavy favourites with top bookmakers for this game so a 3-0 win would be the most likely of results, with three or more goals scored by Juventus another smart bet to go with.

Betting Tips

Juventus are clear favourites for this game with a 3-0 win being treated as a cake walk but it shouldn’t be a big surprise given the gulf in class between the two sides. Empoli know that they are underdogs and they know they probably won’t get anything out of this game so may look to park the bus, making this quite a good bet for Serie A this weekend.  UniBet have it as 23/20.

It looks incredibly likely that, no matter who Juve trot out to play this game, they will have enough firepower up front to put as many as they want past Empoli. With young striker Moises Kean being in top form as of late and full of confidence, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Bianconneri score a bag full as they prepare for Ajax in the Champions League, with this bet rated at 13/5 by UniBet.

Head to Head
Empoli have only ever beaten Juventus three times in their history, with Juventus taking 19 wins from the 25 games played and three draws also taking place in 2008, 2004 and 1998.

  • Empoli’s only three wins have come in 1987 against the likes of Ian Rush and Michael Laudrup, 1999 against a Carlo Ancelotti-led Juve and in the Coppa Italia in 2007 when Ignazio Abate scored the winner.
  • David Trezeguet is the top scorer in this fixture with 11 goals while Alessandro Del Piero is second with eight. The highest Empoli scorer is Nicola Pozzi with three.
  • Juventus are unbeaten in their last nine games against Empoli, winning eight and drawing one with an aggregate score of 20-5.
  • Empoli’s away record against Juve is as bad as it can possibly be, losing every one of their 12 games in Turin against the Serie A champions.
