Serie A Brescia vs Juventus
Brescia vs Juventus Serie A

The match is over.
Score: 1-2.

As the Serie A season starts to take shape and starts to show where teams will likely go over the course of the season, could this be a turning point for Brescia and can this be the moment that Juventus under Maurizio Sarri find their feet?

On paper, this should be a win for the away side but as we all know, this is a different Juve side and after dropping a two-goal lead against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, you can’t rely on them as much as in previous years.

Brescia have started slowly in their return to Serie A, winning their opening game of the season but struggling to pick up points thereafter.

Juve, on the other hand, started the season quite well but in recent weeks have dipped off ever so slightly with draws against Fiorentina in Serie A and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Brescia’s opening game victory came against Cagliari while their next losses came at home to AC Milan and Bologna in a 4-3 thriller.

Juve’s opening game win came against Parma away from home and their next game was a brilliant 4-3 win at home to Napoli, a fortuitous one, but their 0-0 against Fiorentina was the a spanner in their domestic form.

The away side will be favourites for this game and rightly so, but never ever count out Brescia. They could spring a huge surprise, but it’s probably smarter to back a Juventus win with both teams to score. 3-1 isn’t out of the question.

Betting Tips

Juve are overwhelming favourites for this clash so an away win carries very little risk. This Brescia side, containing Mario Balotelli, could always open the scoring before Juve peg them back, which makes this bet among the best online betting odds for this round of action. 888sport have it as 19/2.

Much like picking Juve to win, this one seems quite likely too given how the previous games have gone. Brescia themselves have scored four goals in three games including three in their last fixture against Bologna and Juventus have scored five in three so both teams are capable of scoring, but the Old Lady are just simply stronger and also have the small matter of Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, so to go with tis bet is a smart option, with it rated at 41/20 by 888sport.

Head to Head

Bresica and Juventus have played each other 56 games throughout history with Juventus winning 35 times, a draw being the final result 16 times and Brescia winning just five times.

  • The most recent game came in 2011 when Juve won 2-1 courtesy of goals from Milos Krasic and the legendary Alessandro Del Piero.
  • Brescia’s last win in this fixture came back in 2007 when they won 3-1 in Serie B (post the Calciopoli scandal) with Matteo Serafini scoring a hat trick for Brescia and Del Piero scoring the solitary goal for Juve.
  • The first game, back in 1929, resulted in a 0-0 and the first win for either side was in 1931 when Juventus won 3-0 with a double from Giovanni Ferrari and one from Renato Cesarini.
  • The top scorer in this fixture, rather predictably, is Alessandro Del Piero with 10 goals, with David Trezeguet and Raimundo Orsi tied for second place with both on seven goals apiece.
