The match is over.
Score: 2-0.

One of the standout fixtures of the Premier League weekend sees top four candidates Manchester United face a tricky trip to West Ham United, who have recovered from a slow start to the season.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to the campaign – impressive home wins over Chelsea and Leicester either side of a three-game winless run.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be hopeful of a push for the top four this campaign and having conceded just four goals in five matches, their strength appears to lie in defence.

West Ham have recovered from a harrowing opening day 5-0 loss against Manchester City and draw at Brighton to record back-to-back league wins.

The Hammers have since defeated Watford and Norwich and will be hopeful that they can mount a European challenge this campaign.

The visitors will be favourites to secure three points here despite not possessing home advantage, due to superior quality over West Ham.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it will not be comfortable and indeed a 1-1 draw would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Marcus Rashford scored in this fixture last season and already has three goals to his name this time round. United have earned a penalty in four of their five league games to date and the England international is their designated taker, while they won two at the meeting at Old Trafford against the Hammers last time out. All of that points to Rashford anytime as one of the best online betting odds for this round of games. 888Sport have priced Rashford at an attractive 8/5 to score anytime.

Manchester United have not won away from Old Trafford since their Champions League victory in Paris in early March, while the Hammers have won just two of their last five home league fixtures. The visitors have superior talent but that should be cancelled out by home advantage in East London. 10Bet price the draw at 11/4.

Head to Head

Manchester United have won four of the last six meetings between the two while the away side has won just three times in the last 19 fixtures between the pair.

  • Manchester United have not won any of their last eight away matches in all competitions having won the previous nine on the road.
  • The Hammers have lost just two of their last 11 home matches in the Premier League, having lost six of 13 before that run.
  • The Red Devils were the last opponents West Ham faced – in a 3-2 victory – at their old Upton Park ground in 2016.
14 points separated these two sides last season – West Ham finished 10th with Manchester United in 6th.
