Manchester City will try to consolidate their spot at the top of the Premier League table when they head to the capital to face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Having continued to dazzle onlookers with their performances prior to the international break, there’s one question on everyone’s lips: can anyone catch Manchester City this season?

Pep Guardiola’s side are two points clear of Liverpool at the Premier League summit and have won their last seven matches in a row in all competitions, scoring 26 goals in the process.

With fixtures against Bournemouth and Watford following their meeting with the Hammers, City will expect to stretch their lead over their title rivals in the coming weeks.

Ex-City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be frustrated by West Ham’s output so far this season, with his team down in 13th place and only four points off the relegation zone.

West Ham are unbeaten in three but will have a niggling feeling they should have collected more than five points from meetings with Leicester City, Burnley and Huddersfield Town.

Anything gained against City will be a gigantic bonus for the Hammers but, in reality, that’s unlikely and a 2-0 away win could be in store.

Betting Tips

No Premier League team has collected more clean sheets than Manchester City this season, with the likes of defender Aymeric Laporte and goalkeeper Ederson in excellent form. Guardiola’s side have secured three clean sheets in a row on the road and five on their last six trips away from the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, West Ham have blanked in three of their last five league games at the London Stadium.

Despite having scored in each of his last three matches for Manchester City, David Silva remains at generous odds to break the deadlock at the weekend. The playmaker has already scored the opening goal against Manchester United and Shakhtar Donetsk this month. The Hammers won’t be happy to see Silva either; he’s already struck five times against them in his City career.

Head to Head

Manchester City have been faultless in recent matches against West Ham, winning each of their last five meetings comfortably. Guardiola’s charges won 4-1 at the London Stadium last season, with Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus among the goals. The Hammers last beat City on home turf back in October 2014 when goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Diafra Sakho earned a 2-1 victory.

  • Manchester City have scored 18 times in their last five matches against West Ham United.
  • West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spent three years in charge at Manchester City, winning the Premier League in 2014.
  • West Ham United have just one clean sheet in the Premier League this season
  • Robert Snodgrass has been cautioned five times this season, with only Watford’s Jose Holebas having seen yellow more often.
