Champions Manchester City will be expected to continue their dominance in the Premier League when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City go into the weekend’s matches with an immense record in the Premier League this season, with 11 wins and two draws from their first 13 matches.

Pep Guardiola’s men also head to Vicarage Road having scored 40 goals at an average of more than three a game since the start of the domestic campaign.

And City haven’t tasted defeat in the Premier League since way back in April – another statistic which suggests that the title could be heading to the blue half of Manchester once again.

Watford’s recent stuttering form has pegged them back in the table but the Hornets remain well away from the danger zone and will fancy their chances of a Europa League push in the second half of the season.

Boss Javi Gracia signed a new contract this week and he’ll demand an improvement from the last home game he took charge of – a 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

Picking up points against Manchester City is a real task for any side, though, and Gracia may have to settle for an increase in performance levels rather than any actual points, with City to win out with a 3-1 scoreline.

Betting Tips

Manchester City are in excellent goalscoring form, hitting the back of the net 21 times in their last five matches in all competitions. The likes of Raheem Sterling and David Silva are at the top of their game and could well expose weaknesses in a Watford defence which has been shaky at Vicarage Road.

Watford were more than cancelling out the Liverpool attacking threat until half time in their last home match, before conceding three second half goals. A repeat of that outcome could be on the cards on Tuesday night, with nine of Manchester City’s last 13 goals coming after the mid-game interval.

Head to Head

Watford supporters will cringe at the thought of Manchester City coming to town. On their last two visits, City have won 6-0 and 5-0 respectively, with Sergio Aguero scoring five of those 11 goals. City have won the last eight matches between themselves and the Hornets, with Watford’s last win coming way back in 1987.

  • Sergio Aguero is the Premier League’s joint top scorer with eight goals, alongside Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
  • Watford’s Jose Holebas has been cautioned more than any other player in the Premier League this season, with six yellow cards to his name.
  • Watford have missed more ‘big chances’ than any other Premier League team (27). Manchester City are in second place (26).
  • Aymeric Laporte has touched the ball more often than any other defender in the division (1,269)
