Score: 1-0.

The Premier League’s busy schedule continues on Saturday following on from a round of midweek action with third-placed Tottenham playing host to relegation-threatened Newcastle in a game the hosts are strong favourites to triumph in.

These sides enter into this game in sharply contrasting runs of form with wildly ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.

Tottenham remain in third-place in the standings but have suffered painful exits in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup in recent weeks.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have also been hit by somewhat of an injury crisis, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli both ruled out of action until March – leaving them short of attacking options.

Newcastle’s recent 3-0 win at home to Cardiff ended a run of five league games without a win and lifted the Magpies out of the league’s relegation zone.

The hosts will be favourites to bounce back from recent domestic defeats to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Newcastle.

The home side are favourites to win this game and it should be done with relative comfortable – a 2-0 triumph for the North London side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

The South Korean has returned from his participation in the Asian Cup and it does not come a minute too soon for Spurs. The lively forward has netted seven goals in his last eight appearances for Spurs and aside from Harry Kane, is the side’s main goal threat. The 26-year-old will be keen to add to his recent strong form in this clash and he is 21/20 to net anytime with Royal Panda.

This is among the best online betting odds for the weekend round of action due to the lack of attacking options of both sides. Spurs are without two of their main three attacking threats – no Alli, Kane – while Newcastle’s return of 19 goals in 23 Premier League games to date is the second worst in the division. Additionally, the last three meetings between these sides has seen a paltry return of just six goals. Unibet have under 2.5 goals at Evens.

Head to Head

Spurs secured a 1-2 victory at St. James’s Park earlier in the campaign thanks to Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli strikes, while they also edged this clash last year at Wembley 1-0 after Harry Kane’s goal. The Magpies last victory in the fixture was a 5-1 mauling in May 2016, when they had already been relegated.

  • Tottenham have won 17 of their opening 23 league games and are the only side in the Premier League who have not drawn a match this season.
  • Spurs have lost three four home league games this season – one more than Brighton – and have 18 points from their 10 home league games to date, the eighth best record in the division.
  • Newcastle have won just two of their 11 matches on the road this season but conversely have lost just four times, ensuring they have the 12th best travelling record in the division with 11 points.
  • Only Huddersfield (11) have scored fewer Premier League goals than Newcastle (19) this season but Rafael Benitez’s men have conceded fewer goals than Arsenal and Manchester United.
