Score: 1-1.

The North London derby kicks off the weekend action as Tottenham play host to Arsenal under the arch at Wembley. While Spurs were looking towards the title prior to their loss against Burnley, a win for Arsenal would change both sides’ outlook as we head towards the end of the season.

As is the case with most derbies, this one might be too tough to call but with Spurs at home and already beating Arsenal once this season, will they see themselves as clear favourites?

Spurs could’ve closed the gap between themselves and the top two with a win against Burnley in the past weekend but they failed to do so, meaning this game is even more important if they stand any chance of taking home the Premier League title.

Arsenal will be confident going into this game after their 4-2 win over Spurs at the Emirates earlier in the season, but will be wary of what happened in their last trip to Wembley to face Spurs. Then, a Harry Kane header won it for Tottenham.

Excluding the Burnley result, Spurs were on an excellent run of form beating Watford, Newcastle, Leicester and Borussia Dortmund, all without Kane or Dele Alli.

Arsenal weren’t exactly on cloud nine in the past few weeks, losing to Manchester United, Manchester City, West Ham and BATE Borisov, but put two wins together against BATE in the Europa League second leg and against Southampton.

The home side will probably be slight favourites for this game although it won’t be by too much. The North London derby is always one of, if not the toughest, derby to predict in the Premier League but recent form and home advantage may do it for Spurs.

Betting Tips

Spurs will head into this game with a point to prove after recent results, and will look to kill off Arsenal from the off,  while it is also highly likely that both teams will score with the firepower they both have Of course, Arsenal won’t take this game easily and will look to do the same to Spurs, and this is among the best online betting odds for this midweek round of action. 888sport have it as 5/2 when combined with the Spurs win.

The odds may not fully reflect just how tight this game will be, but it wouldn’t shock anyone if Spurs were in front at half time, raced into a further lead in the second half before Arsenal pull one back late on, falling short of what would be a tremendous comeback, with this rated at 39/20by 888sport.

Head to Head

The history between these two sides has been fraught, with Spurs not losing at home to the Gunners since 2014 when Tomas Rosicky scored an early winner at the old White Hart Lane.

  • Spurs have lost more games at Wembley this season than on the road, losing against Man City, Liverpool, Wolves and Man United.
  • Arsenal’s away record can only be described with one word: inconsistent. Five wins, three draws and five losses in the Premier League mean that you just never know what version of Unai Emery’s side will show up.
  • Spurs beat Arsenal the last time these two faced at Wembley, with Harry Kane scoring the only goal in what was Arsene Wenger’s last game at the New Wembley.
  • Tottenham have conceded just 12 goals at home in the league this season while Arsenal have scored 25 on their travels.
