Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Premier League Predictions

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Premier League

Saturday November 24th, 15:00

The Premier League returns this weekend as Manchester United, badly in need of a winning run of games, host an out-of-form Crystal Palace who have just two points from their last seven games.

Both these sides have endured poor starts to the campaign – United lie 8th with just 20 points from 12 games while Palace, in 16th, are above the drop zone on goal difference only.

United’s form has recovered significantly since the start of October – they have 10 points from their last five games in a run which included tough away trips to Chelsea, Bournemouth and Manchester City, alongside a European victory at Juventus.

Palace have had a tough run of games themselves with defeats against Chelsea and Tottenham mixed up with a spirit draw against Arsenal, but there may be concerns now forming at Selhurst Park.

The South London side will be aware that the bar for avoiding relegation this season may not be high but nonetheless will be hoping to start putting more points on the board.

The hosts will be favourites to make it three home league victories in a row with home advantage, superior form and quality over Palace sufficient to see them through.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be overly comfortable – a 3-1 triumph for the Manchester side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Juan Mata has netted four goals against Palace in his Manchester United career – more than any other current player in the fixture. Two of those goals have arrived at Old Trafford – including in last season’s 4-0 triumph – while another was in the 2016 FA Cup final. The Spaniard has recently netted at the ground against Derby and Newcastle United, while his free-kick in Turin kickstarted a famous victory.

These games tend to produce goals – 17 have gone in across the league five while in each of the two meetings last season, this bet would have produced a winning result. A whopping 41 goals have gone in across United’s 12 league games to date while defensive issues have also dogged Palace this campaign. United will look to take the initiative with the visitors playing on the break – expect goals.

Head to Head

United produced a memorable second half comeback at Selhurst Park earlier this year, coming from two goals down to win 3-2 with Nemanja Matic’s long-range strike in the last minute. Jose Mourinho’s men won the encounter at Old Trafford 4-0 last campaign and have won six in a row against Palace.

  • Only Fulham (1) have collected fewer points in their last seven Premier League matches than Crystal Palace (2).
  • Only Huddersfield (6) have scored fewer league goals this season than Palace (8).
  • Burnley are the only side above the relegation zone to have conceded more league goals this campaign than Manchester United (21).
  • Incredibly, the Red Devils have a minus goal difference (-1) after 12 league games this season.
