Liverpool will try to keep Manchester City at arm’s length in the Premier League title race when they play host to Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool and Manchester City are still separated by seven points after last weekend’s matches, which saw them overcome Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town, respectively.

City play 24 hours before the Reds this week, so Jurgen Klopp’s side will know whether they can maintain or stretch their lead prior to kick-off on Merseyside.

But the home team will be confident of picking up another victory having dropped just two points from the 33 available at Anfield so far this season.

The pressure is increasing again on Leicester City boss Claude Puel, whose team conceded in stoppage time to lose a seven-goal thriller against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Top betting sites are likely to slash the odds on a Puel departure again if he suffers a heavy defeat on Wednesday night, as that would be five losses from the last six games for the Foxes.
Leicester are desperate for a win but it’s unlikely to come against the champions-elect, who should have enough for a narrow 2-1 win.

Betting Tips

Despite their worrying form, Leicester City have put in some excellent performances on the road in the Premier League this season. The Foxes have picked up excellent wins away at Chelsea and Everton and have only failed to find the back of the net once on their travels. According to 10bet, you can still back both teams to score at 21/20.

Liverpool’s frightening attacking players put on a show again in their 4-3 win over Crystal Palace last weekend – but all of their goals came after the break. In fact, the Reds haven’t scored a first half goal in any of their last four matches and Leicester’s tough defence could frustrate them again on Wednesday. The odds at 10bet are 37/20 for Klopp’s men to head into half-time having drawn a blank.

Head to Head

Liverpool beat Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power Stadium in September, with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino bagging for the Reds. In all, the Foxes have won only two of their last 14 matches against Liverpool and haven’t beaten them at Anfield since way back in May 2000, as Tony Cottee and Phil Gilchrist found the back of the net.

  • Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is now the Premier League’s top scorer this season with 16 goals.
  • Leicester City have conceded just 29 goals so far this season – the fifth lowest tally in the Premier League.
  • Only Everton’s Idrissa Gueye has made more tackles than Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira this season.
  • Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has 13 clean sheets to his name – three more than Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and Manchester City’s Ederson.
