Liverpool vs Everton Premier League Predictions

Premier League Liverpool vs Everton

Sunday December 2nd

Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside Derby looking to remain unbeaten, with Everton seek to earn a long-awaited win against their neighbours.

Thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win away at Watford, Liverpool were able to prolong their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 13 games this season.

But as easy as things have seemed for Jurgen Klopp’s side they face two huge tests in the next week. Their hopes of Champions League progression hang in the balance as they head to France to play Paris Saint-Germain, which may affect how the approach this game.

For Everton attentions won’t stay too far from their game against Liverpool, as they attempt to halt a winless run in the derby.

They are certainly a different outfit to the side that drew 1-1 to Liverpool at this stage last season. At this stage last season they sat 16th in the Premier League, but after a 1-0 over Cardiff sit sixth this season.

But they may not have improved enough to break Liverpool’s unbeaten streak in this fixture and may lose by at least 2-0.

Betting Tips

Though perhaps undeserved, Mo Salah’s tormenting of Everton won him the FIFA Puskas award for the world’s best goal. Either way he’s starting to show some of the form he did around that time last season, having netted in Liverpool’s last two games against Fulham and Watford.

With Liverpool the likely victors, he will no doubt central to any success they have on the day.

Liverpool and Everton are not too far away from each other in terms of goals scored in the Premier League. Liverpool have scored 26 and Everton 20, with Jurgen Klopp’s men not looking quite the offensive threat they were last season. But defensively they are a different animal, with no team conceding fewer goals than the five they have so far this season.

In Everton’s three away matches this season to last year’s top six they have picked up only a point and scored only once. They may draw another blank at Anfield on Sunday.

Head to Head

Overall Liverpool and Everton have played each other 231 times in official competition, with Liverpool winning 92 games, Everton 66 and them drawing on 73 occasions.

Everton have a dismal record against Liverpool in the Premier League era, largely due to their recent inability to best their neighbours. The Toffees have not won the derby since 2010, either drawing or losing the last 17 games.

The most recent game was an extremely tepid affair. With Liverpool resting stars ahead of a Champions League tie and Everton keen not to lose, it ended in a drab 0-0.

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their opening 13 matches of a Premier League season for the first time since 2007-08.
  • Liverpool are currently unbeaten in their last 17 matches against Everton in all competitions.
  • Everton have won their last four league home games in a row but won only once in six away trips this season.
  • After 11 matches, Richarlison has already bettered his league goal tally from the whole of last season (six goals vs five), in 27 fewer games.
