Leicester vs Tottenham Premier League

Saturday December 8th, 19:45

Saturday night football returns to the Premier League this weekend as Leicester City play host to Tottenham Hotspur in an intriguing encounter. The visitors are favourites to win in what should be an entertaining clash.

Both these sides are enjoying reasonably successful seasons on the pitch to date, but both will also feel they can reach a higher level of performance.
Leicester are unbeaten across their last six games in all competitions in a run which has seen them climb to 8th in the standings and to within just one point of sixth-placed Everton.
Tottenham’s run of six straight victories in all competitions came to an end with a painful 4-2 North London derby defeat at Arsenal on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still well-positioned to make the top four despite slipping to fifth in the standings as they are just one point behind Chelsea, in third.
The visitors will be favourites to return to winning ways but this will be another tough encounter against one of the toughest, in-form sides in the division in the shape of the Foxes.
The away side are favourites to win this game although may find they cannot bring an end to Leicester’s unbeaten streak – a 1-1 statelemate would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

There are favourable odds across the best betting sites for the Foxes to return a positive result from this game and stop Spurs from winning all three points. Claude Puel’s side have conceded just two goals in their six-game unbeaten streak and are formidable opposition, particularly with a vibrant home crowd behind them. A result other than away win appears to be undervalued.

Leicester have the strongest defence outside the top six in the league (17 goals conceded in 14 games) and have a better defensive record than Arsenal. Despite conceding four goals in the North London derby, Spurs still have the fourth best defensive record in the division. Both of these sides have five clean sheets to date in this campaign’s Premier League.

Head to Head

Tottenham won a thrilling, action-packed 5-4 game against the Foxes at Wembley on the final day of last season. Despite Spurs losing 2-1 at Leicester in their visit in November 2017, their previous trip to the King Power Stadium brought a remarkable 6-1 victory, when Harry Kane netted four goals.

  • Tottenham (21) have collected more points away from home than any other side in the Premier League so far this season.
  • Leicester have the seventh strongest home record in the division, with three wins and 11 points from their seven home league games to date.
  • The last three meetings between the two sides have produced a remarkable 19 goals.
  • Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored more Premier League goals than Tottenham’s Harry Kane (8) this season, with Leicester’s top scorer unsurprisingly Jamie Vardy (5).
