The midweek round of the Premier League has some huge games, especially in South London where Ole Gunner Solskjaer will be looking to get yet another win under his belt as Manchester United boss at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

This could be a potentially tricky game for United as midweek matches at Crystal Palace have some sort of reputation for throwing up a shock result, but the Red Devils should have more than enough to get the win.

The home side will be underdogs for this one considering the stature of their opponent, but they’re on a good stretch of form of late, winning three and drawing two of their last five games.

United, however, have lost just once since their change in manager. They lost at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League but are still unbeaten in the league since Solskjaer’s arrival, drawing once at home to Burnley.

Solskjaer’s side have put together some pretty impressive results since his arrival, beating Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all away from home and gaining enough wins to make them favourites for a top four place.

Palace know that a win here would be a huge towards moving them further away from any potential relegation danger. They’re a good amount of points away from the drop zone, but they’d shift their focus towards mid-table with a win.

The away side are favourites to win this game although there isn’t really much point in looking back into the past for any reasons why. In the reverse of this earlier in the season it was a drab 0-0, so it’ll feel like Palace are playing a completely different team. United can win, 3-1.

Betting Tips

United are favourites for this clash so an away win carries very little risk while it is also highly likely that both teams will score. Palace will give United a really good game and make it hard for them, but United’s quality will shine through towards the end and this is among the best online betting odds for this midweek round of action.

These are lengthy odds for an outcome which is more probable than they reflect, due to the run of form the visitors have been on domestically.

Head to Head

Crystal Palace haven’t beaten Manchester United in the league since 1991 and they’ve only ever beaten them three times in the league ever. Since the Premier League began, United have only ever drawn once at home against Palace, which was this season under Jose Mourinho.

  • Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has only ever beaten Manchester United twice, both times with Fulham and both in 2009, 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.
  • Ole Gunner Solskjaer, on the other hand, played Palace once in his time at Cardiff and lost 3-0 at home back in 2014.
  • The last time United kept a clean sheet at Selhurst Park was back in 2015 and the only other time before that was in 2005, both games being 0-0 but in both seasons United would win the reverse fixture.
  • Crystal Palace’s clean sheet record against United is even worse, keeping just four in their history. The two clean sheets were the 2015 and 2005 games and in 1990 as well as 1991.
