Score: 1-1.

With Chelsea looking likely to stage a fight for the final top four place, one team they wished they could do without facing would be a Wolves side who are looking to consolidate seventh and cut the gap between themselves and Chelsea to 10 points.

This looks like it could be an extremely tricky game for the Blues, who lost to Wolves earlier in the season and given how impressive Wolves have been away at the top six this season, Chelsea could slip up.

The Blues come into this game with a good run of form behind them with two wins in a row against London rivals Tottenham and Fulham following the Carabao Cup final, but need to pick up maximum points in this game if they stand a chance of Champions League football next season.

Wolves, on the other hand, will be looking to make it two wins in a row after their defeat of Cardiff last time out, with a win helping them extend themselves further away from Watford, with the two sides level on points.

The away side have drawn at Old Trafford and at the Emirates but beat Tottenham at Wembley earlier in the season meaning they’re still unbeaten against the top six away from home with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City still to play.

The home side have only lost once at The Bridge this season, but have drawn four times so a leveller might be on the cards.

Chelsea will be slight, slight favourites heading into this one but a draw looks more likely given that they have four draws at home and Wolves have four away draws this season too. 1-1 isn’t unlikely.

Betting Tips

The draw looks like it could be the better bet with no side being overwhelming favourites for this clash, while it is also highly likely that both teams will score. Wolves will be intent on giving Chelsea a run for their money, and this is among the best online betting odds for this round of action. 888sport have any score draw as 17/4.

These are lengthy odds for an outcome which is more probable than they reflect, due to the results these two sides have picked up in recent weeks. Home advantage should shift the momentum Chelsea’s way but Wolves won’t care about home advantage and will have the confidence of knowing they can beat any side on their day. The scoreline being in the hosts’ favour at the break before Wolves fight back for a draw in the second half is a likely outcome, rated at 14/1 by 888sport.

Head to Head

Wolves have only beaten Chelsea six times out of their 21 meetings, with the most recent coming this season in their 2-0 home win. Wolves’ first win over Chelsea in the Premier League era came in 2011 when an early Bosingwa own goal was enough for all three points.

  • If Chelsea were to win this game, it would be their third straight home win in the league following wins over Spurs and Huddersfield.
  • Wolves have conceded more goals away from home than they’ve scored on their travels, scoring 15 and conceding 16.
  • Chelsea’s home record is quite good in comparison to their away record, shown by the fact they’ve scored 28 goals and conceded just nine.
  • Wolves have won five, drawn four and lost five on their travels this season meaning to level things out evenly on that record, a draw is in order.
