Score: 0-3.

With Liverpool coming off the back of a comprehensive win over Arsenal last Saturday at Anfield, this looks like the perfect game for them to carry on their winning start to the season, but Burnley will be looking to get back to winning ways following their late draw against Wolves last Sunday.

This has the potential to be quite a lopsided affair in favour of the away side but if Burnley have shown anything in recent years, it’s that they never give up and they never let you leave Lancashire without a fight.

Burnley will come into this game as natural underdogs, given the gulf in talent between the sides and their relatively poor record against the Reds in recently years, but in football you can never write off the home side in the late night Saturday game.

Liverpool are looking to extend their run of Premier League games unbeaten to 21 games with a win here, with their last 12 games all being wins.

Burnley have come up against Wolves, Southampton and Arsenal so far this season have picked up four points from those games, only losing to Arsenal at the Emirates.

The visitors were accused of looking leggy in the opening stages of the season but having won all three of their games by an aggregate score of 9-3, they look better than many expected.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it may not be a big a margin as many suggest. A 3-1 triumph for Jurgen Klopp’s side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

The Reds are favourites for this clash so an away win carries little risk while it is also highly likely that both teams will score. Both sides have scored in all three of their opening Premier League games and that makes this one of the best online betting odds for this round of action.  888sport have BTTS as 2/1 when combined with the Liverpool win

These are lengthy odds for an outcome which is more probable than they reflect. Home advantage should significantly shift the momentum in this game and Burnley scoring a goal, perhaps an equaliser, wouldn’t be too shocking but Liverpool have more than enough to brush Sean Dyche’s side aside, making this a great bet to go with, rated at 19/2 by 888sport.

Head to Head

Burnley and Liverpool have faced each other 120 times with Liverpool coming out on top 55 times, Burnley winning on 37 occasions and the draw being played out 28 times.

  • Liverpool didn’t beat Burnley until their fifth game in 1899, a 2-0 win doing the trick. Prior to that, the two had a 3-3 draw in their first fixture, followed by four straight Burnley wins.
  • Since 1973, Burnley have only beaten Liverpool twice in the league. They did it in 1974 thanks to a 1-0 win at Anfield and in 2016 when they won 2-0 at Turf Moor.
  • The most recent fixture resulted in a 4-2 Liverpool win on a hot and sunny Anfield day when Liverpool were still chasing the Premier League title, but while the game mattered none to Burnley, it couldn’t help the Reds end their long wait for a top flight title.
  • The highest margin of victory in this game is 8-0 when Liverpool battered Burnley in 1928 but post war, the largest margin is 4-0 which Liverpool did most recently in 2010 courtesy of goals from Ryan Babel, Maxi Rodriguez and a brace from Steven Gerrard.
