Score: 3-0.

Brighton are desperate for a big win over a top six club and there won’t be many better opportunities to take points off of Spurs, who themselves are looking to reestablish their own form as a Champions League contender.

Brighton come into this game off the back of a string of poor results, winning just one game all season and losing last time out against Chelsea.

Spurs’ form hasn’t been brilliant reading, but they did get back to winning ways last Saturday when a Harry Kane winner delivered all three points in a hard fought win against Southampton.

Brighton are yet to win at home and have only picked up two points in front of their own fans, against Burnley and West Ham.

Spurs’ loss against Leicester then their shock loss to Colchester gave some the opportunity to take the club down, but they know that a win here is vital in order to prove doubters wrong and carry on their rise up the table.

The home side recently lost in the Carabao Cup as well, a 3-1 loss at home to fellow Premier League club Aston Villa.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it may not be a big a margin as many suggest. A 3-1 triumph for the North London side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

A lot of people would like to bet against Spurs in this one but that simply doesn’t look realistic at all, so it’s safer and smarter to side with a 3-1 win for the Lillywhites. While Brighton have the ability to play pretty football, they are relatively toothless in front of goal and that could feed into Tottenham’s hands and make it among the best online betting odds for this weekend round of action.888sport have it as 12/1.

These are long odds for something that seems quite likely given how good Son is, especially in front of goal. You’d say he’s the second goal threat in the Spurs side behind Harry Kane so to back him at these odds would simply be too good to turn down, with him to score the first goal rated at 21/4 by 888sport.

Head to Head

Spurs and Brighton have faced off 28 times throughout history, with Spurs winning on 14 occasions, a draw being the final result on eight occasions and Brighton only winning six times.

  • The first game came in October of 1903, when the two played out what seemed like an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Old White Hart Lane.
  • The first win for either side came in the nest game as Spurs won 2-1 in the old Southern League by the seaside.
  • Since 1981, Brighton have only beaten Spurs on one other occasion in the old First Division in 1983, and haven’t beaten them at all in the Premier League.
  • The only draw between these two in the Premier League era came in April of 2018 when they played out a wet and rainy 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.
