Bournemouth vs Liverpool Premier League

Saturday December 8th, 12:30

Bournemouth hope to break a losing snap in the League against an unbeaten Liverpool side still chasing Manchester City at the top of the table.

Having gone unbeaten through October, November was markedly different for Bournemouth. They lost all three games, including their most recent December game at Manchester City.

It has been a tough run, with games against Manchester United, Arsenal and the Premier League champions. After a midweek game against Huddersfield town they have the unenviable task of hosting Liverpool.

A side very much on a high after their late Merseyside Derby win over Everton. While the quality of their football was questionable, and their attacking prowess has dipped noticeably, they remain unbeaten 14 games into the season.

Even so they should have enough firepower to beat the Cherries 3-1 or 4-2.

Betting Tips

While Bournemouth have lost each of their last four games, they still scored in each loss, finding the net in each of their last six games. As punters and top betting sites alike know, Bournemouth are usually good for goals under the gung ho Eddie Howe. And the same could easily be said of Klopp’s Liverpool.

Four of the last five games between these two have seen goals scored in the 85th minute or later. Bournemouth have given up late goals against both Manchester clubs in recent games, while Liverpool bagged their win over Everton thanks to a 96th minute win.

Head to Head

In the 91-year history of matches between these two sides, Bournemouth have only won once. In fairness there have only been 13 games with none between 1964 when they were still known as Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic, and 2014 in the FA Cup.

That one win was a mighty one, as in 2016 Eddie Howe’s side came form 3-1 down to win 4-3 with a 90th minute goal from Nathan Aké.

Their most recent meeting was a routine 3-0 for Liverpool, with the devastating front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané all finding the net.

  • After losing two of their opening 10 league games this season (W6 D2), Bournemouth have lost each of their last four.
  • Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been directly involved in 12 goals in his last 15 Premier League appearances (8 goals, 4 assists).
  • Bournemouth have lost their last two home Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 15 at the Vitality Stadium (W8 D5 L2)
  • Liverpool have recorded 11 clean sheets in the Premier League so far in 2018 at Anfield; only in 2002 and 2006 have the Reds kept more (12).
  • Liverpool have conceded just five goals in their first 14 Premier League games this season; only Chelsea in 2008-09 conceded fewer at this stage in a PL campaign (4 goals).
