The Premier League continues this weekend with the standout match of the weekend coming in North London in a clash between two top four hopefuls – Arsenal and Chelsea. The visitors are narrow favourites to win but many people may tip a draw in this one.

This is a crucial game in the race for the Champions League places with Chelsea, in fourth, sitting six points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal.

The Gunners are badly out of form, they have won just three of their most recent eight league games and only five of their last 13.

That run of results has seen Manchester United draw level with them in the standings and created a gap to the top four above them.

Chelsea’s form has been inconsistent too but they have won five of their last seven league matches and are on course to secure a Champions League place for next season.

The visitors will be favourites to continue their favourable run of form despite not possessing home advantage, as they have superior form and quality over Arsenal.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it may not be that straightforward, and a 1-1 draw may be the most likely outcome.

Betting Tips

Chelsea have failed to score in three of their last seven matches in all competition while they have kept three clean sheets in their last five. Arsenal could not find the net in their recent defeat against West Ham United. These are two teams who are likely to approach this game with an element of caution and there is a real chance that one or both will not score.

Linked to the above prediction, this is among the best online betting odds available for this round of matches. There hasn’t been more than three goals in any of Chelsea’s last 12 domestic matches and they are typically low scoring affairs while Arsenal’s recent results against West Ham, Brighton and Huddersfield would also have fallen into this bracket.

Head to Head

Chelsea edged out Arsenal 3-2 in an entertaining clash at Stamford Bridge earlier this season while Hector Bellerin’s last minute goal saw the Gunners draw 2-2 with the Blues at The Emirates in the league. Chelsea also lost 2-1 at the venue in last season’s League Cup semi-final.

  • Arsenal have lost four of their last eight games in all competitions, having previously been undefeated through 22 matches.
  • The Gunners have only kept one clean sheet in their last 15 league games.
  • Chelsea have won seven of their 10 away matches this season, collecting 22 points in the process – the third strongest record in the division.
  • Maurizio Sarri’s side are six points clear of Arsenal but only one point behind third-placed Tottenham.
