Arsenal vs Burnley Premier League

As both lost last weekend, Arsenal and Burnley will be hoping for wins when they meet in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s long unbeaten run finally came to an end in a 3-2 reverse against a revitalised Southampton.

They will hope for better luck against another relegation candidate in Burnley, though the game is sandwiched between a North London Derby with Tottenham in the League Cup and an away trip to Brighton.

Arsenal’s defeat to Southampton saw the south coast club hop out of the relegation zone at the expense of Burnley. They were moments from a draw at Wembley before Christian Eriksen scored in injury time to earn a 1-0 win for Tottenham.

They have won only once in 10 games and things do not get easier as they face three top 10 teams in a span of eight days. Betting sites’ odds for the Clarets to go down could change quickly in that run.

Nothing in either their play or record suggests they could get a result at the Emirates and could lose by as much as 3-0.

Betting Tips

Not only did Burnley not score against Spurs, they didn’t even manage a shot on target. Unfortunately for Sean Dyche that is not the first time it has happened this season and they have not scored in their last three Premier League home games. Meanwhile the Gunners have found the net in all but one of the last 13 home matches.

The Gabon striker is Arsenal’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with 10 goals. Though he hasn’t found the net in his last three games he has shown a penchant for scoring against the Clarets, scoring twice in his first ever game against Burnley.

Head to Head

Burnley’s record against Arsenal is one they would rather not reflect on. They have lost each of their last 10 encounters against the North London club.

The most recent defeat was a heavy 5-0 defeat late last season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring twice.

They have only beat the Gunners once in the past 40 years, a 2-0 in the League Cup in 2008, thanks to a double from Kevin McDonald. The only Arsenal player still at the club from that match is Aaron Ramsey.

  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored more Premier League goals for Arsenal in 25 games (6) than he did for Man Utd in 39 appearances (5 goals)
  • Arsenal haven’t led at half-time in any of their 17 Premier League games so far this season. The Gunners have scored a league-high 27 second half goals in 2018-19.
  • Burnley failed to register a single shot on target in this match. It’s the third time they’ve done so in the Premier League this season – no other side has done so more than once.
  • Arsenal have lost just once in 23 matches in all competitions.
