Netherlands vs France Nations League Predictions

Netherlands vs France Nations - UEFA Nations League

Friday November 16, 19:45

The Nations League returns this week with an important League A Group 1 clash between Netherlands and France on Friday evening in a game which is too tight to call, although a draw or better will see the visitors win the group.

The Netherlands must win each of their final two group games if they are to finish first and progress into the playoffs, while France only need one point from this, their final group game.
The world champions won the reverse fixture in Paris and collected four points from their two group games against Germany to put themselves in pole position.
Those results also eliminated Die Mannschaft from the possibility of topping the group and Joachim Low’s side will have to look to defeating the Netherlands in their final game, coupled with a positive result for France here, to avoid relegation.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe saw Les Bleus run out 2-1 victors against Ronald Koeman’s side in France earlier in the campaign.
The visitors edge out the Netherlands in the betting markets for this game although knowing that they only require a point should ensure this game finishes a draw, with a 1-1 outcome the most likely result.

Betting Tips

This would be the outcome that perfectly suits the visiting world champions while it would also virtually ensure that the Netherlands do not get relegated from the group. This game is too close to call with France’s superior ability being cancelled out by home advantage and the odds of these two sides cancelling each other out are favourable.

The Atletico Madrid striker has netted nine goals in his last 19 internationals, including the brace against Germany last month alongside scoring in three of his nation’s four knockout matches at the World Cup – finding the net against Argentina, Uruguay and in the final against Croatia. He already has six goals for Atleti this season and will look to continue his goalscoring streak in Amsterdam.

Head to Head

This will be the 28th meeting between the two nations, with France currently ahead on 14 wins compared to 10 for the Netherlands along with three draws.

France have won each of their last five meetings including both of the qualifiers for the 2018 World  Cup, with their last defeat to the Netherlands coming in 2008.

  • France have not lost a competitive match since a World Cup qualification defeat to Sweden in June 2017.
  • Les Bleus have not lost a game in their last 15 outings, stretching back to March, with 11 wins in that run.
  • The Netherlands have failed to score against France in three of their last five meetings and six of their last 11.
  • The Dutch have only won three of their eight matches, drawing three and losing the two others.
