The showpiece event of the English football season takes place on Wembley with recently crowned Premier League champions Manchester City taking on underdogs Watford in this season’s FA Cup final.

Manchester City have been in remarkable form in the 2019 calendar year – they won all of their last 12 games in the Premier League and coasted through to the FA Cup final.

Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Rotherham United, Burnley, Newport County, Swansea City and Brighton to reach the showpiece – a fairly tranquil run to the final.

Javi Gracia has been another hugely impressive manager in this season’s top flight in England – guiding the unfancied Watford to comfortable mid-table safety and flirting with European qualification.

The Hornets would still secure that Europa League spot should they defeat City here, they have defeated Woking, Newcastle, QPR, Crystal Palace and Wolves to reach this stage.

The Premier League champions will be favourites to continue their remarkable winning form this calendar year due to possessing superior form and quality over Watford.

City are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 3-2 triumph for Pep Guardiola’s side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Games between these two sides usually produce lots of goals. City’s attacking prowess is well known but Watford are often involved in high-scoring encounters too, such as their 3-2 semi-final win against Wolves. 22 goals have flown in across the last five matches between the two, placing this among the best online betting odds for this round of action. Unibet have priced this at an appealing 7/2.

The England international has already racked up an impressive 23 goals this season and Watford have been among his favourite victims in recent times. The former Liverpool frontman netted a hat-trick against the Hornets as recently as March, bringing his tally against the club to five in his last four meetings with them. He is priced at 5/4 by 888sport to continue that fine run of form at Wembley.

Head to Head

City won the most recent meeting between the sides 3-1 in March thanks to a hat-trick from Raheem Sterling, having edged out Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road back in December. Indeed, City have won the last 10 meetings between the pair in a run stretching back to 2007.

  • Manchester City are the form team in England after winning the Premier League – they won each of their last 12 matches in the division and 15 of 16 since the turn of the year.
  • Watford are mired in a poor run of form – they lost each of their last three league matches and won just one of their last six.
  • This will be the Hornets’ first FA Cup final since 1984, when they were defeated 2-0 by Everton.
  • The FA Cup is the only competition that Pep Guardiola has competed in as a manager and not won.
