Score: 2-2.

The Europa League returns with an intriguing clash between Ukrainian champions Shakhtar and German side Eintracht Frankfurt, who will both be eyeing a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Shakhtar have dropped down into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group, behind Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais.

The reigning Ukrainian champions once more look set to retain their league title domestically as they sit seven points clear of second-placed Dynamo Kiev after 18 matches this season.

Frankfurt are enjoying a strong domestic campaign themselves – they sit in fifth position but trail the top four by five points after 21 league matches.

The German club were in imperious form in the Europa League group stage, winning all six games including admirable double victories over both Lazio and Olympique Marseille.

The hosts will be favourites to take an advantage from the first leg due to possessing home advantage, although their form and quality is on a similar quality to their opponents.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 2-1 triumph for the Ukrainian side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

These two sides are much stronger going forward than they are defensively. 24 goals flew in across Shakhtar’s six Champions League group games while for Eintracht, that figure was 22 goals in six Europa League group games. Expect four goals or more in this encounter, which is among the best online betting odds for this round of fixtures. Unibet have it at 9/10 for over 2.5 goals.

The Bosnian striker has been in excellent form this season – five of his 19 strikes to date this season have come in the Europa League, including in two of his three away games. Shakhtar’s defence is porous and this could give the 21-year-old forward goalscoring opportunities. Jovic is 47/20 to score anytime with 888Sport.
