Europa League Napoli vs FC Zurich
Napoli vs Zurich Europa League

The match is over.
Score: 2-0.

The second legs of the Europa League knockout rounds are played this week and given the result from the first leg in Switzerland, Serie A side Napoli are in full control of the tie after beating Swiss giants FC Zurich 3-1, setting them up perfectly for the second leg.

This has the potential to be a very straight forward game for Napoli who just need to weather any potential early Zurich storms in order to seal their progression into the next rounds.

With the frightening attack of Napoli, Zurich need to be careful not to go all guns blazing too early or risk losing the tie before it’s even begun. With 28 goals in Serie A at home, it’s almost a certainty that Napoli will score.

Zurich, on the road, have been terrible, losing six games from 11 and winning just three, conceding 33 in the process.

Napoli dropped down into the Europa League following a third placed finish in the Champions League group of death alongside PSG, Liverpool and Red Star Belgrade.

As for the visitors, they got out of a group containing Bayer Leverkusen, Ludogorets and Larnaca.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be a big a margin as many suggest and certainly no repeat of the first leg – a 2-0 triumph for Carlo Ancelotti’s side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Napoli are overwhelming favourites for this clash so a home win carries very little risk while it is also highly likely that they’ve kept Zurich at arm’s length. Zurich will be intent on giving their travelling fans a moment to savour and this is among the best online betting odds for this midweek round of action.

It could also be a possibility that Napoli just take their foot off the gas and control the game from the off knowing that they don’t even need to win to go through, something bookies should be wary of.

Head to Head

The first leg was the first time that these two ever met in a competitive fixture, with that 3-1 win being Carlo Ancelotti’s third victory against the Swiss club.

  • Napoli currently sit second in Serie A, holding an unbeaten home record with 10 wins and three draws to their name, conceding just seven goals in the process.
  • Zurich’s away form is terrible and as a result, they sit fourth in the Swiss Super League on 28 points, being a staggering 28 points behind leaders Young Boys.
  • Zurich haven’t won away from home in the league since November when they beat Luzern 5-2, with five different scores getting on the scoresheet.
  • The last time that Napoli lost at home in Serie A was back in March of 2018 when Roma came to town and beat them in a thrilling 4-2 encounter.
