One of the most intriguing fixtures in this round of the Europa League sees German Cup winners Eintracht Frankfurt play host to Italian giants Inter, with both teams aiming for a spot in this season’s quarter-finals.


Eintracht impressive saw off Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the Round of 32 – they were held 2-2 in the first leg in Eastern Europe but ran out 4-1 victors in the return.

The German club were in imperious form in the Europa League group stage, winning all six games including admirable double victories over both Lazio and Olympique Marseille.

Inter dropped into the Europa League having been edged out by Tottenham Hotspur in the battle for second, behind Barcelona, in their Champions League group stage.

The Nerazzurri comfortably saw off the challenge of Rapid Vienna in the Round of 32, securing a 1-0 victory in Austria before completing the job 4-0 in Milan.

The hosts will be slight favourites to continue their strong European form with a win due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Inter.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 2-1 triumph for the Bundesliga side would appear a likely outcome from it.
