Score: 3-0.

The second legs of the Europa League Round of 32 get underway this week with one of the most intriguing clashes between Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb and Czech club Viktoria Plzen. The home side are favourites to edge this match despite losing the opening leg 2-1.

Last week’s defeat in Plzen was Dinamo Zagreb’s first in the competition this season, having lost none of their six group stage games.

Young Boys knocked Dinamo out of this season’s Champions League playoffs but the Croatian side topped a group including Fenerbahce, Anderlecht and Spartak Trnava.

Viktoria Plzen finished third in a tricky Champions League group, placing behind Real Madrid and Roma but edging out CSKA Moscow into third.

The Czech side’s place in Europe was retained with a victory at CSKA before a 2-1 home win over Roma secured their place in third.

The hosts will be favourites to edge this second leg due to possessing home advantage, with slightly superior form and quality over Viktoria Plzen.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 3-1 triumph for the Croatian side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

There is likely to be goals in this game with three going into the first match but there could be more here, with both now needing to score goals if they are to guarantee their spot in the last 16. This could be one of the best online betting odds for this round of action with recent Dinamo results in Zagreb in this competition ending 3-1 and 4-1 with Viktoria Plzen shipping 16 goals in six Champions League group games.

Dinamo Zagreb have won six of their last nine home games in the Europa League, with all of those seeing the hosts lead the game at half-time before going on to win the match. That run included home victories at home to Fenerbahce and Spartak Trnava this season.

Head to Head

Viktoria’s 2-1 victory last week in Plzen was the only previous competitive meeting between the sides.

  • Viktoria currently sit second in the top flight in Czech Republic – sitting six points behind league leaders Slavia Praha.
  • Viktoria Plzen have struggled on their travels this season with just 18 points from their 10 matches away from home – with just five wins from ten games.
  • Dinamo Zagreb sit 13 points clear at the top of the Croatian division and have played one game fewer than second-placed Rijeka.
  • Dinamo have gone 14 matches undefeated in their home stadium, dating back to the Young Boys Champions League defeat back in August.
