The match is over.
Score: 0-0.

The Europa League group stage continues this week with Manchester United hoping to build on their opening day win as they travel to Dutch outfit Alkmaar.

Alkmaar were held to a 2-2 draw in their matchday one fixture at Partizan Belgrade – but considering they were reduced to 10 men in the 27th minute, it should go down as a good result.

Arne Slot’s side have made a solid start to their Eredivisie campaign, winning four of their six matches and currently sitting fourth.

Manchester United scrambled over the line against Astana in their opening game, Mason Greenwood’s goal edging them a 1-0 victory.

The Red Devils are struggling domestically, with just eight points from their opening six matches in the Premier League.

The visitors will be favourites to make it two European wins out of two despite not possessing home advantage nor superior form but do hold superior quality over Alkmaar.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 1-1 draw is the most likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

United have won just three of eight matches this season and have not won an away match of any sort since their victory in Paris Saint-Germain in March, while Alkmaar have drawn two of their last three home matches. 10Bet have drawn this up at 11/5, making it one of the best online betting odds for the matchday.

Linked into the previous bet, the draw is the most likely outcome and there is even greater value in it when betting that it will be a score draw. Alkamaar have 15 goals in their last seven games – more than two per game – while Manchester United carry a goal threat with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both likely to play.888Sport have a score draw at 33/10.

Head to Head

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly given the European exploits of both clubs in European competition, these two sides have never previously met before this season.

  • Manchester United won this competition for the first time in their history in 2017.
  • The Red Devils have not won any of their last nine away matches in all competitions, a run stretching back to March.
  • Alkmaar are unbeaten in each of their last eight matches at home.
  • The Dutch side last reached the knockout stages of European competition in the 2016/17 season, when they lost to Lyon in the Round of 32.
