The match is over.
Score: 3-1.

The Euro 2020 qualifiers resume again this week with one of the most intriguing fixtures sees the Netherlands play host to Northern Ireland with both sides hopeful of qualifying from a tough group.

Predictions

Both these sides are well positioned in Group C but are aware that these direct clashes between the two are almost definitive in qualification.

Northern Ireland won all four games home and away to Belarus and Estonia but came unstuck at home to Germany last month, and now must look for a minimum of draws in their remaining three games.

The Netherlands have recovered from losing their opening group game at home to Germany by winning away to Die Mannschaft and winning their other two group games to date.

Ronald Koeman’s side are strong favourites to join Germany in progressing automatically from the group while Northern Ireland are likely to go into a playoff spot.

The hosts will be favourites to make it four wins from their last four due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Northern Ireland.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 1-1 draw may be the likely outcome of a closely fought game.

Betting Tips

Prior to being edged out by Germany in Belfast last month, Northern Ireland had won six consecutive matches and are notoriously a difficult team to break down under boss Michael O’Neill. This rates among the best online betting odds for the matchday and is 9/2 at 888Sport.

Northern Ireland’s last 17 matches have not had more than three goals in them – they are not prolific in attack but are defensively solid and well structured. This game is likely to have a similar outcome, with two goals or fewer the likely result of a match in which the visitors will sit deep and soak up pressure. It’s 6/4 at 10Bet.
