The match is over.
Score: 2-0.

Italy are on the brink of sealing qualification for the European Championships next summer while Greece need a minor miracle to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the playoff spot following a poor campaign.

Italy have won all six group matches to date and are on the verge of sealing their spot in next summer’s finals.

Roberto Mancini’s side have enjoyed strong form in what is a vast contrast to their inability to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, and while they are not a vintage Italian side, they are on the road to recovery.

Following an opening day win at Liechtenstein, Greece have failed to win any of their next five qualification matches and look set to miss out on next summer’s tournament.

Indeed, the 2004 champions of the tournament were even held at home by Liechtenstein in their last match in what was a new low for their campaign.

The hosts will be favourites to make it seven group wins out of seven due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Greece.

The home side are favourites to win this game and it will be very comfortable – a 4-0 triumph for the Italians would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Italy have been in fine goalscoring form in recent times and have netted a remarkable 16 goals across their last five matches, at a rate of over five per game. Greece are without a clean sheet in six games and four or more goals here is highly likely, making this among the best online betting odds for the matchday.10Bet price it at 43/20.

Linked into the previous bet, this is a game which is likely to be a convincing victory for the hosts. This is due to be a relative stroll in the park for Roberto Mancini’s side so betting on them not only to pick up the three points but for the game to have three goals or more appears a strong bet.888Sport price it at 10/11.

Head to Head

Italy won 3-0 in Greece earlier in the campaign in the first meeting between the two sides in over a decade. Nico Barella, Lorenzo Insigne and Leonardo Bonucci were all on target for the Azzuri.

  • Italy have won their last seven international matches and are unbeaten in their last 10.
  • Greece are without a win in six matches and have not secured successive victories across their last 18 internationals.
  • Even with four matches remaining in this group, it would be impossible for Greece to finish above Italy as the margin of points between them stands at 13.
  • Finland, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Liechtenstein are the other four nations in the group.
