Score: 8-0.

The qualification campaign for the 2020 European Championships continues this week with Germany – who will be among the outright favourites for next summer’s competition – playing host to outsiders Estonia in a game the home side will be heavily tipped to win.

Germany made the perfect start to their qualification campaign with a vital 3-2 victory at the Netherlands – the team tipped to challenge them for the group.

Joachim Low’s side are favourites to win a tough group in which Northern Ireland will also be hoping to qualify, with the top two going through to next summer’s finals and a third-place finish going into a playoff spot.

Estonia lost their opening group game 2-0 in Belfast and are rank outsiders to qualify for next summer’s finals along with fellow unfancied side Belarus.

It is heavily expected that the home side will win this game comfortably with the question being centred on how many goals they will win by.

The hosts will be favourites to continue their winning run due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Estonia.

The home side are favourites to win this game and it should be relatively comfortable – a 3-0 triumph for Die Mannschaft would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Estonia have failed to find the net in nine of their last 15 matches in all competitions and are not fancied to threaten at all in this game. Germany have not found the net in five of their last 14 games and their form has been mixed, at best, in recent years. Unibet have attractively priced this bet at 13/10 and it is unlikely that Estonia – who have three clean sheets in their last five – will concede more than three in this encounter.

Linked into the previous bet, this is one that offers real value and is among the best online betting odds for the round of action. The value in this match is found in backing Germany to win whilst keeping a clean sheet, whilst themselves scoring three goals or fewer. Considering Estonia’s tendency for low-scoring matches, at 19/10 this is a bet worth attention.

Head to Head

Somewhat surprisingly, these two nations have only met on one previous occasion – a qualification match in 1937 for the 1938 World Cup. The Germans ran out 4-1 victors on that occasion.

  • Germany have won just five of their last 17 matches in all competitions – a run stretching back to October 2017.
  • Estonia have won three of the previous five matches, having won just once in 12 attempts prior to that.
  • This game starts a run of five home games in seven matches for Joachim Low’s Germany.
  • Estonia have never previously qualified for a major international tournament.
