The match is over.
Score: 3-0.

Qualification for the 2020 European Championships continues this midweek as Belgium – who will be among the outright favourites for next summer’s competition – play host to Scotland, who have made a slow start to their campaign, in a game the home side will be heavily tipped to win.

Belgium have made a perfect start to their qualification campaign with two-goal victories over both Russia and Cyprus respectively to place them top of the group.

Roberto Martinez’s men will be strong favourites to win the group and qualify comfortably for next summer’s finals, having lost just two of their last 34 matches.

Scotland made a disastrous start to their campaign with a 3-0 loss at Kazakhstan, before edging out minnows San Marino in their second tie.

Steve Clarke has replaced Alex McLeish at the helm of the Tartan Army and he will be desperate to get off to a strong start.

The hosts will be favourites to continue their winning form due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Scotland.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 2-0 triumph for Roberto Martinez’s side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Eight of Belgium’s last 11 matches have seen three goals or fewer go in while Scotland have failed to find the net in three of their last six outings. Three of the last four meetings between the two sides have ended in 2-0 wins for Belgium – all of which would have won this bet. At 29/20, Unibet have made this one of the best online betting odds for this round of action.

Linked into the previous bet, the real value in this game is to be found not only in Belgium winning, but for them to keep a clean sheet against a blunt Scotland attack while also not scoring many themselves. It is likely that the visitors will sit deep and soak up pressure, with little attacking intent of their own. A 1-0 or 2-0 victory would suit the hosts and at 23/10, Unibet have priced this attractively.

Head to Head

Belgium have won each of their last four matches against Scotland without conceding a goal in any, and winning by an aggregate scoreline of 10-0. A double from Michy Batshuayi helped the Red Devils to a 4-0 victory during their last meeting in September 2018.

  • Belgium have lost just two of their last 34 matches – against France in the World Cup and to Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League.
  • Additionally, Belgium have won 14 of their last 17 matches in all competitions – the best run in the nation’s history.
  • Across their last 34 matches, Belgium have netted 99 goals – just shy of an average of three per game.
  • Scotland have lost eight of their last 14 matches away from home.
