The qualification campaign for the 2020 European Championships resumes this week with Belgium – who will be among the outright favourites for next summer’s competition – play host to outsiders Kazakhstan in a game the home side will be heavily tipped to win.

Belgium have made a perfect start to their qualification campaign with two-goal victories over both Russia and Cyprus respectively to place them top of the group.

Roberto Martinez’s men will be strong favourites to win the group and qualify comfortably for next summer’s finals, having lost just two of their last 34 matches.

Despite an opening day 3-0 victory at home to Scotland, Kazakhstan are rank outsides to qualify with both Russia and the Scots tipped to finish above them in the group alongside their opponents for Saturday.

Kazakhstan have won just one of their last 12 matches on the road and come up against one of the most in-form teams in international football.
The hosts will be favourites to make it three wins out of three due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Kazakhstan.

The home side are favourites to win this game but it may not be as comfortable as suggested – a 2-1 triumph for the Belgians would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

Eight of Belgium’s last 11 matches have seen three goals or fewer go in, while Kazakhstan have kept two clean sheets from their last three matches. Additionally, the Kazakhs failed to find the net against Russia last time out and typically struggle to score against top opposition. Belgium are unlikely to expend much energy on this game, making it one of the best online betting tips for the clash. Unibet have priced this attractively at 7/5.

Kazakhstan’s failure to find the net against Russia in their last clash was only the second time they had not scored in their last 13 matches – a run in which they scored 21 goals. Additionally, Belgium have shipped six goals in their most recent three games. This is an outside bet but is well priced at 7/2 and the visitors may look to take advantage of Belgian complacency.

Head To Head

These sides have met four times previously. Belgium won the encounters 4-1 and 2-0 during the qualification campaign for the 2012 European Championships, while the qualification group for the same tournament four years prior produced 2-2 and 0-0 draws.

  • Belgium have lost just two of their last 34 matches – against France in the World Cup and to Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League.
  • Additionally, Belgium have won 14 of their last 17 matches in all competitions – the best run in the nation’s history.
  • Kazakhstan have won just one of their last 12 away matches – a 3-2 win at Hungary – while they have lost nine times in that run.
  • Across their last 34 matches, Belgium have netted 99 goals – just shy of an average of three per game.
