Belarus vs Netherlands Euro 2020 qualifiers

The match is over.
Score: 1-2.

The visitors will be favourites for this game and for good reason given their record, but traveling to Belarus is never an easy task and it’ll show how far the Dutch have come mentally under Ronald Koeman.

On paper you’d back Holland all day long and you shouldn’t not back them, but be wary of any huge shorelines in their favour.

Belarus come into this one off the back of their first win in the group stages, a tidy and hard fought 2-1 win away in Estonia.

The Netherlands are riding high after yet another win against Germany in a superb match, winning the latest one 4-2 and beating Estonia the following game 4-0.

Belarus have failed to pick up points against the Netherlands, Germany and Northern Ireland and even failed to beat Estonia the first time of asking, so it may be a good win for the Dutch in this one.

The last loss for the Dutch was against Germany in this group stage, losing 3-2 in a superb game, one of their many recent brilliant battles.

The away side are favourites to win this game although it may not be a big a margin as many suggest. – A 3-1 or 3-0 triumph for Ronald Koeman’s side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

The temptation is for the Netherlands to hammer Belarus but that’s not guaranteed – but they should still have enough goals in them to score over 2.5 in the game, as they did the last time they played Estonia. 888Sport price over 2.5 goals for the Netherlands at 4/5.

Belarus’ chances of getting a goal means over 3.5 goals in the game in total comes in to play. The top bookies should be aware that the home side have some confidence from beating Estonia, and that could be a factor. 888Sport price over 3.5 goals in the game at 29/20.

Head to Head

These two have faced off nine times, with Holland winning seven of those games and Belarus winning on two separate occasions.

  • The first meeting of these two came in 1995 and resulted in a 1-0 win for Belarus, despite Marc Overmars, Clarence Seedorf and Edwin Van Der Sar all starting for the Oranje.
  • The highest margin of victory was the most recent win, a 4-0 Dutch win thanks to goals from Memphis Depay, Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil Van Dijk.
  • The second Belarus win came in 2007 when they won 2-1, even with Rafa Van Der Vaart scoring in the 89th minute, with the presence of Arsenal hero Aleksander Hleb putting the Dutch off their game.
  • Despite their star studded teams, Holland have never been able to beat Belarus by more than four goals, and it took them until this season to finally win by a margin bigger than 3-0.
