PSV vs Barcelona Champions League

Wednesday November 28th, 20:00

While Barcelona have already qualified for the next round of the Champions League, PSV will be looking to save face by at least reaching the Europa League.

Predictions

Like always, Barcelona are on course for the knockout rounds of the Champions League and will top the group with a win in either of their two final games.

They have been flying high in the Champions League, but even with Real Madrid faltering things at the top of La Liga are tighter than they would like, following a 3-4 loss at home to

Real Betis. Their match is also sandwiched between important games against Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.

PSV by contrast endured a tough time alongside Barcelona, Inter and Tottenham Hotspur in what some may consider the toughest group in the tournament.

With only a point in the competition this season, courtesy of a home draw with Spurs, their hopes of reaching the last 16 are gone. At the very least they can hope to reach the latter stages of the Europa League, but to do so they need a positive result against the Spanish champions.

That will see them give Barcelona a good game, but likely not enough to knock them off their perch, losing 3-1.

Betting Tips

Barcelona tend to get most of their work done in the second half, with 11 of their last 15 goals coming in the second half. They may have to come from behind to get a result away from home.

PSV have scored in both their home matches in the Champions League this season, as well as every game of the Eredivise this season. Luuk de Jong or Hirving Lozano are among the likeliest to find the back of the net.

Statistics

Head to Head

The last meeting between these two sides was not a close one, with Barcelona winning 4-0 at the Camp Nou courtesy of a Lionel Messi hat-trick.

Things were more even when they met back in 1997, with 2-2 draws both home and away. It was also tight when they faced each other in the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup a year before, with Barcelona winning 5-4 on aggregate.
