Young Boys aims now shift to securing a Europa League spot, while Manchester United will look to improve their chances of pressing with a win.

Were it not for two late goals in Turin, Manchester United’s fate in the competition would be in serious doubt. While they are far from through, this match holds a little less importance, so long as they can best Valencia in their final group match.

Though it is unlikely they will pass up the opportunity to win, which will see them progress to the last 16 should Juventus beat Valencia in the group’s other game.

Young Boys have played the unfavoured role of whipping boys in Group H. Their only point in the competition came in a 1-1 draw at home to Valencia.

Their hopes of qualification are all but over, but they still have a chance of securing third place in the group and progressing to the later stages of the Europa League.

That adds some spice to the game but going to Old Trafford and getting a result is unlikely. Even if Jose Mourinho’s side are not imperious at home this season, they should win at least 2-0.

Betting Tips

Young Boys are among the lowest scorers in competition, scoring only twice and didn’t score when the two sides met earlier in the competition.

While Manchester United have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight matches, only Bayern and Schalke have conceded fewer goals in the Champions League this season.

Moreover, Young Boys made a record number of fouls for this season’s Champions League in their last match against Valencia, which may lead to them conceding a penalty like they did in the first match between the two. The Frenchman stepped up to score like he has on five occasions this season and may do so again on Tuesday.

Head to Head

Manchester United put in an assured performance when the two teams met for their Group H opener, with the English side winning 3-0 in Switzerland.

Their record against Swiss opposition is mixed, winning two, losing two and drawing two against Basel.

Young Boys have never won any of their three visits to England, facing Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham. They did beat the latter 3-2 at home back in 2010.

  • Young Boys made 25 fouls and were given six cards (five yellow, one red) against Valencia – the most fouls by a team and the joint-most cards for a team in a Champions League match in 2018-19 so far.
  • Scoring just twice, Young Boys are the joint-lowest goal scorers in the competition, along with Monaco, Lokomotiv Moscow, and AEK Athens.
  • Only Fulham (0) have kept fewer clean sheets than Manchester United (1) in the Premier League this season.
  • But only Bayern and Schalke (1) have conceded fewer goals than Manchester United (2) this season.
