The Champions League continues with a mouth-watering clash between two of the competition’s most significant clubs, who both have ambitions to lift the trophy in May. Each side will be hugely tough to separate over the two legs.

Both these sides are among the favourites to lift the title this year and whoever progresses from this tie will be a side to avoid for all opponents in the following round.

Liverpool have been in imperious Premier League form this season – they have lost just one game this season, a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City, although they have drawn consecutive games against Leicester and West Ham.

However, the Reds have struggled in cup football this season – they fell at the first hurdle of the EFL Cup (to Chelsea) and FA Cup (to Wolves) while they only just scraped through their Champions League group.

Bayern Munich have won each of the last six Bundesliga titles but have struggled for form this season and are sat second in the standings behind Borussia Dortmund.

The hosts will be slight favourites to edge out the first leg of this clash to possessing home advantage, although neither side are in sterling form and both have similar quality.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 1-1 draw between the two appears to be a likely outcome from it.
