Juventus vs Manchester

Wednesday November 7th, 20:00

Juventus will win Group H if they beat Manchester United in the Champions League at Juventus Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Predictions

Massimiliano Allegri’s side will look to maintain their tight grip on Group H after three consecutive wins against United, Young Boys and Valencia. The Old Lady’s progression to the last 16 will be ensured with a point but their sights will be set on a better return from Wednesday’s fixture having won 12 of their first 13 matches in all competitions this season.

Manchester United sit in second place in the group but still have to travel to Spain to face third-placed Valencia – who they currently lead by two points – in their final match. With that in mind, anything United could bring back from Turin would be considered priceless by boss Jose Mourinho.

However, getting a result in Italy will be a huge task for the inconsistent United. Juventus have only been beaten on their own patch three times since August 2015 and ex-Red Cristiano Ronaldo should help inspire them to a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Betting Tips

Juventus managed to limit Manchester United to very few clear-cut chances in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last month, with the Red Devils finding the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini in imperious form.

The Old Lady have kept six clean sheets in their last nine matches across all competitions and another shutout would, at least, guarantee a spot in the knockout rounds.
With United’s star striker Romelu Lukaku hideously out of form too, odds of 8/5 for a home win to nil look generous overall.

Manchester United have looked shaky at the back in their two most recent away matches – a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United and a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Now they come up against a Juventus team who has a wealth of attacking talent. Paulo Dybala netted in the reverse fixture between these teams and Ronaldo looks to be hitting form after his summer move from Real Madrid.

The visitors’ defence will have to be on top form to keep them from running riot and the Old Lady are 17/10 to win by two or more goals.

Statistics

Head to Head

Paulo Dybala’s 17th minute strike gave Juventus the victory at Old Trafford two weeks ago – Juventus’ first win over Manchester United in five attempts.

The two sides last met in Italy in February 2003, when a brace from Ryan Giggs and a goal from Ruud van Nistelrooy handed United a storming 3-0 win at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

Stats

  • No player has scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo in the history of the Champions League (120).
  • Only Lionel Messi and Edin Dzeko have scored more goals in this season’s Champions League than Paulo Dybala (4).
  • Manchester United have attempted 68 crosses in their first three matches, with only Real Madrid and Bayern Munich sending more deliveries towards the penalty box.
  • Paul Pogba is the fourth most-fouled player in this season’s competition, winning ten free-kicks for his team.
  • Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci has completed 221 passes in the competition so far – 35 more than United’s most frequent passer Nemanja Matic.
