Champions League Juventus vs Leverkusen
Juventus vs Bayer Champions League

The match is over.
Score: 3-0.

Juventus began their campaign with a credible draw at home to Atletico Madrid but will be hopeful of collecting all three points against an out-of-form Leverkusen on Tuesday.

Juventus blew a two goal lead in Madrid on matchday one against Atleti but would have taken a point before kick-off from the fixture which is toughest on paper in the group.

The Old Lady are still unbeaten under new boss Maurizio Sarri and have collected 13 points from their opening five Serie A fixtures.

Leverkusen’s chances of qualification have almost evaporated already after a hugely disappointing 1-2 loss at home to Lokomotiv Moscow in their opening fixture.

They have taken a respectable 10 points from their opening five league matches but have won just one of their last four in all competitions.

The hosts will be favourites to secure the three points due to possessing home advantage, superior form and quality over Leverkusen.

The home side are favourites to win this game and it should be relatively comfortable – a 2-0 triumph for the Turin-based side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

The German side have won just one of their last 10 matches away from home in the Champions League and have scored just seven goals in that run of matches. Juve are one of Europe’s most formidable home sides and will look to secure the three points with a clean sheet here, making it one of the best online betting odds of the matchday.888Sport have Juve winning to nil at 7/5.

Linked into the previous bet, Leverkusen have struggled to carry a goal threat away from home in this competition while Juve’s strengths have traditionally been built in their defence. Three of their last five Champions League home games have ended in wins to nil and this is set to be another low-scoring encounter.888Sport price under 2.5 goals at 5/4.

Head to Head

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly given the European exploits of both clubs in European competition, these two sides have not met since the 2002 competition. In that group stage, Juventus triumphed 4-0 in Turin but lost 3-1 in Germany.

  • The one season when these two sides previously met, Leverkusen reached their club-best final of the competition, losing to Real Madrid in the showpiece.
  • Juventus are aiming to reach their first Champions League final since 2017 but they have not won the competition since 1996.
  • The Bianconeri have won the competition twice, also in 1985, but have lost all three finals contested this decade – in 2003, 2015 and 2017.
  • Juventus have won eight successive Serie A titles, but boss Maurizio Sarri has never previously won the league crown.
