Champions League Bayern vs Liverpool
Bayern vs Liverpool Champions League

The match is over.
Score: 1-3.

This is one of the standout ties of the Champions League Round of 16 and remains finely balanced after a goalless first leg at Anfield. Bayern are slight favourites to go through against last season’s beaten finalists.

Predictions

After enduring a nightmare opening half of the season, Bayern are resurgent in the Bundesliga and have won 11 of their last 12 matches in the division.

Niko Kovac’s side have now drawn level on points with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga and are now favourites to lift the title in May.

This tie is on a knife-edge with Liverpool slight favourites going into the tie but rocky form over the past five weeks has seen the tables turned.

Liverpool have drawn five of their past seven matches and have won just four of their last 11 across all competitions, they are out of the FA Cup and have lost top spot in the Premier League.

The hosts will be favourites to progress into the quarter-finals due to possessing home advantage and superior form over Liverpool.

The home side are favourites to win this game although it may not be comfortable – a 2-1 triumph for the Bavarian side would appear a likely outcome from it.

Betting Tips

The Poland international striker already has 27 goals to his name this season, of which eight have come in the Champions League. Lewandowski has netted 16 times across the past 20 matches. He netted a brace against Borussia Monchengladbach last time out and this is among the best online betting odds for this round of action.

Liverpool have failed to score in three of their last four matches in all competitions and their front three, so often electric, have been quiet in recent weeks and do not appear to be in form. Bayern by contrast have conceded just one goal in their last three matches and secured an impressive clean sheet at Anfield.
